For this series of PauliTalks events, we will focus on the topic: #allBlacklivesmatter. In this panel, Black queer artists Jade Wilson and Gemynii Storer will discuss the story of the Black Lives Matter resistance in Durham through photography and creative arts.

Gemynii is a Durham based black, queer, fat multidisciplinary artist whose creative platform is centered around celebrating and uplifting the magic of black femmes through art, music, and activism.

Jade Wilson is a documentary photographer and video artist based in the Raleigh-Durham area. They became interested in telling stories in 2012 when they took their first photography class. Since then, Jade has taken portraits that examine the self in relation to others and reveal the identity of an individual and a community. Their focus on finding the beauty behind the pain of love and isolation is informed by their past. With a trained eye in graphic design, the elements of art and principles of design are second nature, but being cognizant of the space around them, the person in front of them, and what they feel while shooting is more important than technique.
