Pauli Murray color SMALL.jpg

The Washington Cathedral's LGBTQIA Alliance is hosting Barbara Lau, Director of the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice who will reflect on the life of Saint Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray. Pauli Murray was an early and committed civil rights activist and the first African American woman to be ordained a priest in the Episcopal church — in 1977 at the Washington Cathedral. Her goal in life was an integrated body, mind and spirit.

REGISTRATION

The discussion will center on what can we learn from Pauli that will help us bring our whole selves to the challenges we face today? Barbara Lau will explore Pauli's strategies — spiritual resiliency, evolving purpose, a commitment to justice and a capacity for hope — and then the group will break-out into small groups to discuss how Pauli's life can help us bring our whole selves to the challenges we face today.
